General Terms of Service
Last updated: February 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the LegalQuants website, platform, and associated services (collectively, the “Services”), operated by LegalQuants (“LegalQuants”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). They constitute a legally binding agreement between LegalQuants and you (“you” or “User”).
These Terms incorporate, where applicable, the Contributor Terms set out in Part B, which apply additionally to individuals who choose to participate in LegalQuants's contributor programme. Participation in the contributor programme is voluntary and separate from general platform access.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Services, you confirm that:
- you are at least 18 years of age or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction;
- you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy;
- if you are accessing the Services on behalf of an organisation, you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
2. Changes to These Terms
LegalQuants reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will post the revised Terms on the platform and update the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Services following any such change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice via email or a prominent notice on the platform.
3. Access to the Platform
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, LegalQuants grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Services for your personal or internal business purposes.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access, with or without notice, at our reasonable discretion, including where we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms.
4. User Accounts and Registration
Some features of the Services require you to register for an account. When registering, you agree to:
- provide accurate, current, and complete information;
- maintain the security of your password and restrict access to your account;
- promptly update your account information if it changes;
- accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
You must notify us immediately at admin@legalquants.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account or any other security breach.
5. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to use the Services to:
- violate any applicable law, regulation, or professional obligation;
- infringe the intellectual property rights of LegalQuants or any third party;
- upload or transmit malware, viruses, or any other harmful code;
- scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the platform without prior written consent;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Services or related systems;
- use the Services to harass, abuse, or harm any person or entity;
- engage in any conduct that interferes with or disrupts the integrity or performance of the Services;
- use the Services to transmit unsolicited commercial communications (spam);
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Services;
- misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or affiliation.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on the platform — including text, graphics, logos, data, software, and intelligence products — is the property of LegalQuants or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership rights to you.
You may access and use platform content solely for the purposes expressly permitted under these Terms. Any other use requires LegalQuants's prior written consent.
7. Third-Party Links and Services
The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. LegalQuants does not endorse, control, or accept responsibility for any third-party content, products, or services. Your interactions with third parties are solely between you and them, and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
LegalQuants collects and processes personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Services you consent to such processing. LegalQuants processes personal data in compliance with applicable data protection law, including where applicable the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
9. Disclaimers
The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, LegalQuants disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. LegalQuants does not warrant that:
- the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure;
- any information on the platform is accurate, complete, or up to date;
- the Services will meet your specific requirements.
No Legal Advice. LegalQuants is a directory and community platform. Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice. The presence of legal professionals on our platform does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and any member.
No Endorsement. Inclusion in the LegalQuants directory does not constitute an endorsement of any member's legal services, skills, or software. We verify that members have built working software, but we do not guarantee the quality, security, or fitness for purpose of any projects listed.
User Content and Tools. Any software, code, or tools shared through LegalQuants are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. You are responsible for evaluating and using such materials at your own risk.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection legislation that cannot be excluded by contract.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LegalQuants and its officers, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Services.
Where liability cannot be excluded, LegalQuants's aggregate liability is limited, to the maximum extent permitted by law, to the greater of AUD 100 and the amount paid by you (if any) to LegalQuants in the 12 months preceding the relevant claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LegalQuants and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Services; (b) your breach of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any third-party rights.
12. Termination of Access
LegalQuants may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time for any reason, including breach of these Terms, with or without prior notice. You may cease using the Services at any time. Termination does not affect any accrued rights or obligations, and clauses that by their nature should survive termination will do so.
13. Governing Law
These General Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New South Wales, Australia. For disputes arising solely under Part A, the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
14. General Provisions
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and (where applicable) the Contributor Terms in Part B, constitute the entire agreement between you and LegalQuants in respect of the Services and supersede all prior agreements and understandings. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. LegalQuants's failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of its right to do so in the future. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without LegalQuants's prior written consent.

Contributor Terms
Scope: These Contributor Terms apply in addition to the General Terms in Part A. They are effective upon your separate electronic acceptance or signature (the “Effective Date”) and govern your participation in the LegalQuants contributor programme. Participation is entirely voluntary.
These Contributor Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between LegalQuants (operated under LegalQuants) and you, the individual contributor (“Contributor”), effective upon your electronic acceptance or signature.
Context. LegalQuants collects, analyses, and may sell aggregated intelligence products derived from practitioner insights to clients in the AI and legal technology industry. Participation is voluntary. The LQ community remains free and open. Declining to participate does not affect your community membership.
B1. Licence
The Contributor grants LegalQuants a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable licence to collect, store, analyse, aggregate, and commercially exploit intelligence derived from the Contributor's contributions through LQ community channels — including group chats, calls, surveys, and any LQ platform. This licence covers all contributions made before and after the date of this Agreement.
LegalQuants may sell intelligence products to multiple clients simultaneously, including competing companies. LegalQuants will not sell raw bulk exports of chat logs — only processed, aggregated intelligence. Direct quotations are included only in accordance with the Contributor's attribution preference in clause B3.
B2. Revenue Share
The Contributor participates in LegalQuants's revenue share programme. LegalQuants allocates a portion of its net commercial revenue to a contributor fund each month. The Contributor earns points based on the value, substance, and originality of their contributions. The Contributor's share of the fund is proportional to their points relative to all contributors in that period.
The points methodology, weighting, and scoring criteria are determined by LegalQuants in its sole discretion and may be changed at any time. Revenue share payments are made monthly, subject to a minimum payout threshold. Participation does not guarantee any minimum payment.
B3. Anonymity and Attribution
By default, contributions are anonymised — quoted or referenced without personally identifying information (e.g., “Senior associate, international law firm”). The Contributor may opt into named attribution by selecting this option at signature or by written notice at any time. The Contributor may change their preference at any time, but LegalQuants cannot retroactively alter reports already delivered to clients.
B4. Your Responsibilities
The Contributor warrants that:
- their contributions do not contain confidential client information, privileged communications, or material subject to legal professional privilege, unless sufficiently anonymised;
- their participation does not breach any obligation to their employer, firm, or professional regulatory body;
- they will not submit false, fabricated, or offensive content, or engage in any conduct designed to manipulate or game the points system.
Breach of this clause is grounds for immediate termination.
B5. Opt Out
The Contributor may terminate this Agreement at any time by giving 14 days' written notice to LegalQuants. Upon termination, the Contributor stops earning points and is no longer required to contribute. LegalQuants will pay any accrued but unpaid revenue share within 60 days.
The licence granted in clause B1 survives termination permanently — LegalQuants may continue to use intelligence derived from historical contributions without restriction.
B6. General — Contributor Terms
This Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New South Wales, Australia. LegalQuants's total liability to the Contributor is limited to the revenue share payments actually made to the Contributor in the 12 months preceding any claim. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Any dispute will be resolved by arbitration administered by the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) under the ACICA Arbitration Rules, seated in Sydney, before a sole arbitrator, in English. Nothing in this Agreement creates an employment relationship, partnership, or joint venture. This Agreement may be executed electronically.
LegalQuants reserves the right to amend these Contributor Terms at any time without prior notice. However, if an amendment constitutes a material adverse change to the Contributor's rights or obligations, LegalQuants will provide the Contributor with reasonable notice via email or the LQ community channels before the change takes effect.
Acknowledgement
By electronically accepting these Terms (or by continuing to use the Services where no separate acceptance mechanism is provided), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by Part A of these Terms. By separately electronically accepting or signing the Contributor Terms, you additionally agree to Part B.
