For members: how to represent yourself in public, how to conduct yourself in LegalQuants channels, and how membership is verified.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

For members. These form part of the Member Terms in our Terms of Use and are enforceable by removal.

Representing yourself in public

Members speak as members. Only the LegalQuants team speaks for LegalQuants. The following rules apply whenever you refer to LegalQuants (or LQ), the LQ Community, or the LQ Residency in any public setting — including biographies, LinkedIn or other social profiles, introductions in chat groups, event descriptions, podcasts, media interviews, marketing materials, and pitches to third parties.

What you may say

If someone asks what LegalQuants is: it finds, vets and trains lawyers who build their own tech to practise law.
That you are a member of the LegalQuants community.
That you completed, or are enrolled in, the LQ Residency, if you did.
That you passed LQ Assess, if you did.
That you are an LQ Residency mentor, only if the LegalQuants team has formally appointed you to that role in writing.
A link to your public profile at legalquants.com/community.

What you may not say

That you hold any operational or leadership role at LegalQuants or in any LegalQuants sub-brand (LQ Community, LQ Residency, LQ Assess, or any other) — including titles such as lead, co-lead, head, director, manager, organizer, co-organizer, host, coordinator, ambassador, chapter lead, city lead, community lead, program lead, moderator, or administrator of any LegalQuants program, event, group, meetup, chat, channel, or initiative — unless the LegalQuants team has appointed you to that specific role in writing.
That you run, lead, own, co-own, operate, manage, host, organize, or convene any LegalQuants program, event, group, meetup, chat, channel, or initiative, unless the LegalQuants team has appointed you to do so in writing. For example: “I run the LQ Community”, “I run the LQ Residency program”, “I co-own LQ events”, “I organize the LQ Community in [city or specialty]”, “I lead the LQ [group name] chapter” are not permitted statements for members.
That you are an employee, contractor, staff member, representative, spokesperson, agent, or officer of LegalQuants. LegalQuants currently has two cofounders and no employees; anybody else describing themselves this way is misrepresenting.
Language that positions you as speaking on behalf of LegalQuants — for example, using “we” or “our” in reference to LegalQuants or any of its sub-brands, programs, decisions, events, or plans. Members speak as members (“I am a member of the LegalQuants community”), not as insiders (“our LQ Community”, “our LQ Residency”, “our program”).
That you represent LegalQuants to any third party, media outlet, client, sponsor, partner, regulator, or in any commercial negotiation, unless you have received formal written approval from admin@legalquants.com for that specific engagement.

Groups, events, and derivative names

You may not create, host, convene, moderate, or brand any group, chat, channel, publication, meetup, workshop, conference, hackathon, or other event under the LegalQuants name, the LQ name, the LQ Community name, the LQ Residency name, or any derivative or compound (for example: [X]Quants, LQ [City], LQ [Practice Area], LQ [Demographic]) — in any medium, including WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, Telegram, Substack, LinkedIn, in person, or otherwise — without formal written approval from admin@legalquants.com.
Approval is granted for a specific program, event, or group, for a specific scope and time. It does not extend to additional programs, sub-groups, spin-offs, or successor events, each of which requires a new written approval.
You may not use the LegalQuants or LQ logo, wordmark, or visual identity outside of your own public profile page without formal written approval. The Logo and visual identity section above sets out the full logo rules.

Enforcement: Breach of these representation rules is grounds for immediate removal from LegalQuants and from all LQ channels, and for removal of the member's public profile from legalquants.com/community. These rules form part of the Member Terms in our Terms of Use.

Community conduct

These rules apply to all members across every LegalQuants surface: WhatsApp, Slack, Substack, GitHub, LQBrain, LQDigest, LQClaw, LQMCP, video calls, in-person events, and anywhere else.

a. Chatham House Rule

You may share what is discussed in LQ channels — a tool that came up, a workflow, a debate, an insight. You may not attribute what was said to who said it, in any medium, ever. This applies to messages, screenshots, direct quotes, and paraphrases, whether in public or in private.

b. Respect stealth members

Some members participate anonymously or under handles. You may not try to identify them, ask where they work, publish their details, or share their identity outside LQ channels.

c. Confidentiality of access

Access codes, passcodes, bearer tokens, invite links, and private URLs for LegalQuants resources (LQBrain, LQDigest, LQMCP, LQClaw, private Substack, Slack workspaces, WhatsApp channels, and any other) are for members and paid subscribers only. Do not share them, publish them, or grant access to anyone else. Unauthorised disclosure of access or of the content behind it is grounds for permanent removal from LegalQuants.

d. Respect personal space

Badgering, harassment and stalking are not tolerated, in LQ channels or in the direct messages that follow from them. If a member does not reply, that is an answer. Members come from many countries, legal systems and backgrounds, and prejudice on grounds of nationality, race, gender, religion or anything comparable has no place here. Membership puts you in reach of senior lawyers, partner organisations and the opportunities we bring in. Use that to build and to help other members. Do not use it to extract.

e. No political agenda

Discuss law, regulation and policy as they bear on our work, including where the subject is politically charged. Do not use LQ channels to campaign for a party, a candidate or an unrelated political cause.

f. Attribution of collective work

LegalQuants distils contributions from members into published products (LQDigest, LQBrain, LQMCP, and others). Contributions are anonymised by default; a member is not identified in a published product without their permission. The full licence and attribution model is clauses B1 and B3 of our Member Terms.

g. No cold-pitching other members

Sharing what you have built is encouraged and expected. Using LQ channels or the member directory as a lead list to cold-pitch commercial services, solicit clients, recruit for your firm, or sell products to other members is not permitted. If you are unsure whether a message crosses that line, ask admin@legalquants.com before sending it.

Enforcement: Breach of any community conduct rule in this section is grounds for immediate removal from LegalQuants and from all LQ channels, per the Member Terms in Part B of our Terms of Use.

The LegalQuants team

LegalQuants is run by two cofounders. We do not have any employees at this time. Only the cofounders hold @legalquants.com email addresses; individual @legalquants.com addresses are not issued to members, LQ Residency mentors or participants, LQ Assess candidates, or any other non-employee. Anybody presenting themselves as a LegalQuants employee, or corresponding from an @legalquants.com address other than the cofounders', is misrepresenting.
