Important Legal Disclaimer, Terms of Use, and Assumption of Risk

Please read this entire disclaimer carefully before accessing, downloading, or using any applications, code, or tools hosted on this site.

1. Experimental “Hackathon” Prototypes

The software, applications, code repositories, and tools (collectively, the “Projects”) featured on the Legal Quants platform are the result of rapid prototyping, “hackathons,” and individual experimentation. These Projects are experimental proofs-of-concept and are NOT commercial-grade, enterprise-ready, or fully audited software products. They are provided strictly for educational, demonstrative, and research purposes.

2. “As Is” and “As Available” — No Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, all Projects are provided “as is,” “where is,” and “with all faults,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

The Legal Quants community, the website operators, the individual developers (“Builders”), and any associated sponsors (collectively, the “Disclaiming Parties”) explicitly disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

3. No Legal Advice & No Attorney-Client Relationship

WARNING: These Projects utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to process legal-related data. These Projects are NOT lawyers and do not provide legal advice.

  • *No Professional Reliance: The output generated by these Projects should never be relied upon as a substitute for the professional judgment of a qualified attorney.
  • *Verification Required: Any legal research, drafting, redlining, or analysis produced by these Projects must be independently reviewed and verified by a qualified human professional (“Human-in-the-Loop”).
  • *No Relationship: Use of these Projects does not create an attorney-client, fiduciary, or advisory relationship between you and the Builders or the Legal Quants community.

4. AI Hallucinations, Accuracy, and Jurisdiction

You acknowledge that Generative AI technologies are prone to “hallucinations,” fabrication of facts, and logical errors.

  • *Jurisdictional Limitations: The Projects may reference, rely upon, or be trained on laws from specific jurisdictions (e.g., English Law, US Federal Law) that may not be applicable to your specific legal matter or location.
  • *Accuracy: The Disclaiming Parties make no representation that the output of any Project is legally correct, factually accurate, or current. You assume full responsibility for any errors or omissions resulting from the use of these tools.

5. Data Security: Use Synthetic Data Only

Do not input confidential, proprietary, privileged, or personally identifiable information (PII) into these tools.

  • *Synthetic Data Only: Users should strictly use synthetic, anonymised, or dummy data when testing these Projects.
  • *Data Leakage: Information submitted to these Projects may be processed by third-party API providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) or stored in unsecured databases. There is a material risk of data leakage or use by third parties for model training.
  • *Waiver of Privilege: Inputting attorney-client privileged information into these tools may constitute a waiver of that privilege.

6. Limitation of Liability

Under no circumstances shall the Legal Quants community, its organizers, contributors, or Builders be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of these Projects. This includes loss of revenue, profits, data, or malpractice claims.

7. Compliance with Employer Policies

If you are employed by a law firm, in-house legal department, or government entity, you acknowledge that using “homebrew” or unauthorized AI tools may violate your employer’s IT, security, or risk management policies. You bear sole responsibility for ensuring your use of these Projects complies with all applicable organizational rules.

8. Sandbox Recommendation

These projects have not undergone formal security audits. It is strongly recommended that you run any code or applications downloaded from this site in an isolated, secure “sandbox” environment to prevent potential harm to your primary operating system or network.
